From 24–28 March 2025, European Academy successfully delivered a comprehensive in-house Train the Trainer (ToT) Programme to the team at Oxfam Novib in The Hague. Led by senior trainer Marco Amici, the five-day course was designed to enhance internal training capacity while deepening participants’ strategic and practical competencies in managing EU-funded projects.
Tailored to the needs of a global NGO environment, the programme combined core project management principles with adult learning methodologies, ensuring participants not only gained knowledge but also developed the skills required to effectively pass it on.
Programme Highlights
Participants engaged in a structured and intensive programme that addressed both the technical dimensions of project management and the pedagogical strategies essential for effective training. Key thematic areas included:
Introduction to Project Management principles, terminology, and standards
European Funding Opportunities and mapping relevant programmes to Oxfam Novib’s strategic priorities
Governance Models and Project Lifecycles based on the EUPM² methodology
Risk Management, procurement procedures, and monitoring mechanisms in EU-funded projects
Financial Management, including budgeting, cost eligibility, and reporting
Communication, Dissemination, and Sustainability obligations and best practices
Adult Learning & Training Design, including lesson planning, needs analysis, and learner engagement techniques
The programme employed a rich mix of learning methodologies including case studies, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), mind mapping, and the integration of AI tools and digital project management platforms.
From Project Managers to Learning Multipliers
This ToT initiative enabled participants to take on dual roles—enhanced project managers and confident internal trainers. Practical workshops focused on public speaking, interactive delivery, and course design, preparing staff to deliver high-impact internal training and promote learning across partner networks.
With a strong emphasis on values such as gender equity, social justice, sustainability, and feminist principles, the programme aligned seamlessly with Oxfam Novib’s mission and organisational culture.
