In early October 2024, project managers, financial officers, and coordinators joined the PM² Project Management Methodology for EU Funded Projects course, delivered online via Zoom. This two-day intensive training is designed to give participants a solid grounding in the European Commission’s PM² methodology, a framework increasingly recommended for managing EU-funded projects.
This course provided attendees with a practical understanding of the PM² governance structure, lifecycle phases, and the essential tools needed to manage complex European projects. Through a blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on workshops, participants explored each stage of the PM² project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution and closure.
One key area of focus was Risk and Stakeholder Management, where participants were encouraged to share real-world challenges they’ve encountered in managing risks and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Questions raised included, “How can we effectively integrate risk mitigation into our daily project workflow?” and “What are the best approaches to maintaining clear communication with all project stakeholders?” The course provided answers through interactive sessions that utilized PM² artefacts and real-world scenarios, helping participants develop effective strategies for stakeholder engagement and proactive risk management.
Another highlight was the Project Closure phase, which delved into the critical steps needed for a successful project wrap-up, such as conducting end-review meetings, documenting lessons learned, and completing the administrative closure. Participants appreciated the structured guidance on how to document and apply insights from completed projects to improve future outcomes.
In addition to mastering the PM² tools and techniques, attendees received a complimentary voucher for the PM² Basic Certification Exam, allowing them to formally validate their new project management skills.
