In the frame of its ongoing commitment to strengthening financial management capacity in international research cooperation, European Academy participated in the Financial Management and Compliance Support Workshop, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 14–16 May 2025, under the SCOPE-HE programme.
Representing European Academy Mr. Dimitrios Prilidis, a senior expert in EU financial administration delivered specialist training sessions, contributed to high-level discussions, and provided strategic input on grant compliance and audit readiness for EU-funded projects.
Supporting Capacity Building in the ASEAN Region
Organised at a local venue in Jakarta, the three-day workshop brought together stakeholders from research institutions, implementing agencies, and cluster leads from across the ASEAN region. The event aimed to enhance financial compliance and improve reporting quality in collaborative projects funded under Horizon Europe and related EU programmes.
European Academy contributed to the programme in several key ways:
A. On-site Expert Training Delivery
Panel Contribution on “Maximising Impact: Effective Finance and Administration Management for Grant-Funded Projects”
Two parallel finance-focused sessions:
Procurement & Monitoring
Reporting & Audit
Q&A facilitation for all sessions, offering practical answers grounded in EU regulations
Active input during cluster lead discussions, ensuring EU financial rules were well integrated into implementation planning
B. Customised Training Materials and Tools
Full development of training content, including slides and session outlines
Authoring of a Finance Handbook tailored to the SCOPE-HE context—used as a printed resource throughout the workshop
Delivery of a complete post-training package, including final materials, an updated Q&A list, and a summary report with recommendations for future capacity building
Enhancing Global Readiness for EU Grant Compliance
European Academy’s contribution supported the workshop’s goal of promoting transparent, effective, and audit-ready financial management practices among international partners. The sessions were well received by participants, particularly for their clarity, applicability, and focus on the practical realities of managing EU-funded projects in non-EU contexts.
This engagement underscores the Academy’s role as a trusted provider of technical training and advisory support in the financial governance of European research and innovation funding.
