Are You Fully Prepared for Your Next EU Audit? Key Insights from Our February 2025 Online Training 

On 20–21 February 2025, the European Academy hosted the online edition of the specialised course Financial Administration & Auditing Preparation for EU-Funded Projects, designed to support professionals navigating the complex financial requirements of EU grants. 

Led by a former auditor of the European Commission, the course provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of cost eligibility, financial reporting, and internal control systems tailored to EC expectations. With a focus on both budget-based and lump sum grant schemes, the training offered clarity on the “why” and “how” behind the financial provisions set out in Grant Agreements and Calls for Proposals. 

Key topics included calculating personnel day equivalents across multiple projects, applying the Value for Money principle in budget execution, and interpreting eligibility rules with precision. Participants were guided on how to structure their financial systems in a way that mirrors EC audit procedures, an essential step toward ensuring compliance and audit readiness. 

Interactive sessions and practical case studies allowed for hands-on application of key concepts, while the content was customised based on participants’ actual needs, gathered through pre-course surveys.
